Yes, earthworms are very healthy for your bearded dragon. These people don't know what they are talking about. Crickets harbor many parasites and are more dangerous to feed to your dragon than an earthworm. Earthworms don't carry any known diseases, either.

Earthworms provide a good deal of protein and nutrients (including minerals from the soil and vitamins from the leaves they digest).

Sarah definitely has much more information on this in her post, so refer to that.

Okay, so all of these people said no, but I'm going to tell you, Earthworms are a main part of a Bearded Dragon's diet in the wild. It is totally illogical to think that because it is in captivity it can only eat food sold at a pet store. I catch earth worms from the wild and soak them in water to get the dirt out of there system and my bearded dragon loves them! I'm sure I'll get a load of flack about that, but it isn't true about the pesticides and parasites, of course an insect can carry parasites, and when I say that, I mean FEEDER INSECTS TOO. Feeder Crickets eat each other and eat the dead ones, they also eat the waste left behind by other crickets even if there is food and water provided, that is like, parasite central. :) I'm glad you asked though b/c there is a lot of things that a bearded dragon can't eat, like lightning bugs (POISONOUS). If you do research or ask a vermiculturist (person who raises feeder insects), they will tell you that earthworms carry no known diseases, and they are so sensitive to chemicals and pesticides that they would be dead if they had them in their system. Even laundry detergent on their skin burns them to death. I'd also like to note though, that Earthworms are not a good source of calcium, it is the protein that they carry that is so good for your bearded dragons, but Earthworms are a thousand times better than things like mealworms, which contain chitin, and fat, little protein, high phosphorous, and low calcium. If you'd like visit this website for great nutritional information on feeding your bearded dragon. I hope that helped, and wasn't just a waste of words. :) http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Nutrition.html

No, earthworms carry parasites that can be passed on to your beardie.
References :
CVT, beardie owner

NO! even meal worms are a bad idea because if your bearded dragon dosent make sure its dead before he eats it, it could eat its internal organs.... i would just feed it crickets personally and if you cant stand the chirping get medium sized crickets....they dont have wings so its a peaceful night
