Why do they put non-biodegradable stickers on organic fruit and vegetables?
Months later, when my compost bin is full of brand new dirt I will have to sift through it and pick out the labels, (some sort of plasticized paper stickers) and they look brand new- you can still read the "Gala" or "Vidalia" on them!
Likewise, when I make broth, and boil all the vegetable scraps from the freezer- I will check it after simmering for hours, and the only recognizable items in the pot will be little floating stickers cheerfully proclaiming "Certified Organic 751311."
You know, that is the definition of ironic. (Nobody ever uses that word correctly..)
And in reply to the previous response which stated that stickers couldn't be biodegradable- that's ridiculous. Most price tag stickers are nothing but paper & glue. They turn to mush when you get them wet.

For the same reason hippies and other tree huggers use 1970's vans (not very environment-friendly, if you ask me), paint them with very hazardous neon sprays…. and make big burns to "protest the system that kills mother earth"
