If it smells really bad, it means that you have too much water in with your lettuce and it has putrified. Roll the sides of the bag down to allow more air circulation and only water it when the surface appears dry. The mold, I just till under with my finger into the soil, it goes away.

    Lettuce is really …
Lettuce is really hard to grow sometimes. I have both good luck and bad luck. I found out that most of the time my seed is dead. I just threw mine in with my indoor strawberries, and it’s growing the best I’ve ever seen. I know that lettuce and strawberries compliment eachother and change the ph of the soil, they both produce better when grown together.

Make sure you have new lettuce seeds they are sterilze after one season. I just planted some lettuce, and discovered my seeds were dead. So replanted them with fresh seeds, and they are germinating. So if you don’t have sprouts in 10 days, replant the seed ok? It’s just one of those things with lettuce.
