Cucumbers, lots of blooms but no cucumbers? Please help. i live in dallas,tx. use kitchen compost.?
do not dead head the blossoms as they die you will be pinching off your future cucumbers!!
hope you like cucumbers as you are about to have way more than you bargained for. I used to live in Garland and planted cuc's one year and my plants ended up producing for 2 years by accident. whatever you do, DO NOT throw a bad cucumber into your compost as it will produce plants the next year.

Those blooms will BE cucumbers if you give them time!

if you are getting blooms then you have a pollination problem, you must have a lack of bees in your area and it probably isn't too windy where you live
you need to try and pollinate the flowers yourself, you must get some of the pollen onto the stamen of the flower, this is the part in the middle of the flower
my best advice would be to hook up a leaf blower and aim it at the plants in question, this will probably cause the pollen to release and be distributed among your flowers
if you have plants that are healthy you dont need any fertilizer or compost, the plants are healthy and your job is done, you just need to make sure they get pollinated

Usually, the first blossoms you see will be male only, the female blossoms come on a bit later, you can identify these by the tiny cucumber at the base of the flower, be patient.
