Composting Kitchen Scraps in a Worm Bin Revealed

This video is an update of my worm bin. Patti Moreno, the Garden Girl and Al, the Garden Kid open their worm bin to harvest the worm castings from their kitchen scraps for use in their container plants. See what tons of kitchen scraps, junk mail and 5 pounds of red wiggler worms can do. It really works and anyone can do it. If you ever wanted to see how it works watch this video. If you want to make your own watch the response video “How to Make Your Own Worm Bin” There’ s lots more to see at http://www.gardengirltv.com, http://www.urbansustainableliving.com, and http://www.gardenkidtv.com. @sk8board44 1 …
@sk8board44 1 popular method is to have multiple tubs that are stacked on top of each other. The base tub has few holes for drainage, while the ones you (eventually)stack on top have holes every 1 to 1.5 in apart. When base tub is full & composted, you stack your next tub on top & put bedding/scraps in 2nd tub–worms will leave castings behind & move into other bin. Patti’s using worms’ light sensitivity to drive them out of upper layers, then scraping castings away. See Metro-Worm-Condo on YT

Thank you Patti so much, you inspire me with my L.A., Calif. Urban Garden. I get the same response to avocados from my worms. My worm farm grew from less than a pound of worms a a gift from my sister to 4 18 gallon containers in one year. Worm Tea anyone?

    actually there is …
actually there is not much nutritional value in worm castings. It is more the micro organisms and eco-environment that they provide which helps so much with soil less indoor plants. All plants need that micro eco-environment that worms create… I think you will find a better decomposition rate if you add coffee grounds and basically grind everything up before you put it in. Worms can eat things better if their food is very small.

I like it, but it is a bit messy. Maybe you want to see what mister tculhane on youtube came up with. He makes a very healthy biological nutrient for the garden, and at the same time he makes methane gas to cook with.

Check Mr. TCULHANE on youtube I am sure you like his concept.

    Happy new year !!!
