I’m glad i took the time to watch this. I moved into a house that has one of these and I have been kind of *hating* it because it has been much harder to handle than the square stacking kind, and i find that the compost is way too wet…but I had NO IDEA about the tea function- I thought that part was supposed to be filled with water to keep it from blowing away! That said, I have used compost from it- I’m going to check out your website and maybe I’ll learn to *love* it!

That’s a funny …
That’s a funny thing about the Envirocycle is its lack of holes. I’ve contacted the manufacturer asking if it would be a good idea to drill some holes around the barrel to increase air flow, and they said no. The key function is to get the contents as hot as possible…but I still like to have the two slits on the bottom facing upward from time to time. I flubbed the term tea in there…it’s actually leachate and needs to be turned aerobic before using on plants.

@crazyaboutcompost You should really order the new one that now has holes on the side. The vents are angled such that the compost doesn`t come out and that rain doesn`t come in. Also, the new latch is in metal.

Hey John have you tried bokashi composting? It takes a little setup to start but once its going it can compost within an aerobic and anaerobic process so no mixing needed. It also gives off a nice liquid fertilizer that could be diluted for plants that needs a little more push to grow. I was wondering which would yielded more since I haven’t found the grain husk I would need to keep it for a longer shelf life. I found the best info from youtube user dkpd1581 . cheers

Hey John,throw a pound of red wigglers in your old composter.Wet them down once a week.They will have that cut in half in no time.Same with the new ones ,they will like the ride.LOL.The new ones both need leverage tubes bolted on sides .Use 6″pieces of 3/4″conduit.Take 16″ cold rolled steel rod as lever.See ya

when i 1st found …
when i 1st found out about ya, i said you needed a new microphone but otherwise you had great vids

well, the sound is a lot better and you still have great vids, we can hear the wind a lil, but the vid is still great quality! glad to see it!
